Biography

Dr. Kontogiorgos is a board certified prosthodontist in the United States of America. He completed his Masters in Oral Biology and Certificate in Prosthodontics at the Baylor College in Dentistry in Texas. He has published several research articles in the field of Implant Dentistry and Prosthodontics. He specializes in full mouth reconstruction and in the field of esthetic, cosmetic and implant dentistry. He has who completed a residency in graduate prosthodontics at the Texas A&M University Baylor College of Dentistry (TAMBCD) in 2008, has been a faculty member in the Department of Restorative Sciences at TAMBCD since 2010.

Teaching responsibilities include: Implant Dentistry, Graduate Program of Prosthodontics, Histology of Craniofacial Tissues, Preparation & Analysis of Mineralized Tissues, and Research Mentor for D.D.S. specialty students.

Dr. Elias Kontogiorgos’s current research focus is on bone response to trauma, surgery and biomaterials. In collaboration with Biomedical Sciences colleagues, the research area addressed is on tissue regeneration via distraction osteogenesis and its effects on the craniofacial skeleton. Additional research focus is in the field of Prosthodontics. This includes the restoration of endodontically treated teeth, advanced technology including digital impressions and CAD-CAM prosthesis, and on novel designs for dental implants.

Dr. Kontogiorgos is an active member of the American College of Prosthodontics and the American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics.
